FAQ

Common questions about how SixLadder works.

What does this app do?

This app provides IPv6 connectivity on IPv4-only networks.

It allows apps and systems that require IPv6 to work normally in environments where only IPv4 is available.

By default, IPv6 traffic is forwarded through this app, while IPv4 traffic continues to use the system network directly. You can adjust the configuration to disable IPv4 and/or forward IPv4 traffic over IPv6 as well.

How does the connection work?

The app establishes a local VPN tunnel based on WireGuard.

What does Google DNS64 do?

When Google DNS64 is enabled, an IPv4-only domain name is resolved by Google’s DNS64 service into a synthetic IPv6 address.

When an application connects to this synthetic IPv6 address, the traffic is routed through the VPN over IPv6.

The VPN server provides built-in NAT64 functionality, translating IPv6 traffic destined for IPv4-only services into IPv4, allowing IPv6-only clients to access IPv4 websites and services.

What is IPv6-Only Mode?

IPv6-Only Mode blocks IPv4 system-wide and provides an IPv6-only network. Some users may require this type of network for specific tasks, such as testing IPv6-only environments.

If access to IPv4-only services is required, IPv6 addresses from the 64:ff9b::/96 prefix can be used to reach them, which can be provided by DNS64.

How does billing work?

After registration, users receive 1 GiB of free data. Data can be topped up as needed. When all data is used up, the service continues to operate at a reduced speed and is never suspended.
